This study looks at the influence of primary care service organisation models on access to health services and on the population’s care experiences in using these services

Answers

Primary care includes health services provided by family doctors and general practitioners. These services are given in doctors’ offices, medical clinics, polyclinics, Family Medicine Groups (FMG), CLSC and Family Medicine Units (FMU).

The study is being conducted by a team of researchers from

  • the Montréal public health department  of the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal
  • the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal
  • the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie
  • the Institut national de santé publique du Québec,
  • the CHUM research centre
  • the Charles Lemoyne hospital research centre (Université de Sherbrooke)
  • Université de Montréal
  • McGill University
  • and other partners including the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and Collège des médecins du Québec.

People aged 18 and over living in Montréal or in the Montérégie.
Clinical leaders from the clinics in these regions.
Managers from CSSS.

How many people will participate in the study ? Ouvrir-fermer

Answers

About 9 200 people, including 4 800 in Montréal and 4 400 in the Montérégie.
About 650 clinical leaders from the medical clinics in these regions.
About 50 managers from CSSS.

What will it be used for ? Ouvrir-fermer

Answers

The study will identify how PHC models evolve and the impact of these models on the population’s health.

Have doctors and clinics been informed about this study ? Ouvrir-fermer

Answers

All family practitioners have been informed about the study through the journal L’Actualité médicale and through their regional directors.

Who will have access to the information collected in this study ? Ouvrir-fermer

Answers

Only the research team will have access to the information collected in this study.

Will the results be available ? Ouvrir-fermer

Answers

Results will be published on various Web sites, including those of the Agences de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal and de la Montérégie, and in assorted research reports.

No results will be available before summer 2011.
